Focus Groups Among Canadian Youth

Focus groups were conducted with youth aged 12 to 15 and 16 to 18 in Toronto and Montreal to explore perceptions of energy drinks. Themes included how young people perceive energy drinks relative to sports drinks and other caffeinated beverages, as well as perceptions of energy drink marketing. The focus groups also examined the extent to which young people are aware of, and understand the labelling information on energy drinks, including the cautionary statements required on containers.
